Established in 2018, Autism Abilities is an NDIS registered, autism-specific service with a team of dedicated and caring professionals offering positive behaviour support, OT and speech pathology services.
Through our work we identified a very real need for skilled support workers for autistic people, support workers who really 'get' autism and know how to support autistic people in a strengths based, neuroaffirming way. As a result, in 2025, we are proud to offer a new service for autistic people across Australia, matching skilled and reliable support workers with autistic people.
So whether you need help with daily routines, navigating social situations, or building independence, we would love to help!
Getting started is easy - simply fill out the new client registration form and tell us a bit about yourself, what's important to you, and describe your perfect support worker.
Based on the information you provide we will search our database of support workers and send you some profiles of potential matches we think might be suitable. All of our wonderful support workers have completed thorough onboarding and verification checks, have access to training resources and support and are covered by our comprehensive insurance giving you total peace of mind.
Simply let us know if you'd like to arrange a meet and greet with any or all of the potential support workers and we will put you in touch. A free, 30-minute meet and greet provides a good opportunity to find out if it's a good fit.
If the meet and greet goes well and you would like to go ahead we'll send you out a service agreement detailing the rates and terms of service. As an NDIS registered service we can work with any funding type (NDIA, plan managed or self-managed funds).
Once the service agreement is signed you and your support worker can organise shifts directly. At the end of each week your support worker will notify you and us confirming all the shifts completed with their shift notes for that week. All shifts must be declared to meet the terms and conditions of our service agreement and to be covered by our insurance.
As an NDIS registered service it doesn't matter if you are NDIA, plan or self managed. Our invoices are sent out weekly to you (or your plan manager or the NDIA ) for payment and support worker payments are made the following week.
The fee for your support workers is in line with the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limit, which is reviewed regularly and updated annually on 1 July each year. You will be notified of any upcoming changes to the rates when these occur.
Your support worker will benefit from ongoing training opportunities at Autism Abilities so you can be assured that their skills are up to date. We also have the necessary inhouse knowledge and experience to provide additional support to you and your support worker(s) if required.
